Already a second release for the young swiss Mism label, and another sweet 7" for your shoebox.
Continuing on the emo rap (excuse the swear word, im no longer a reviewer so i do as i please, ha!) tendency of the first Son Lux / Bleubird, Mich at Mism asked another one of his (and ours) favorite on that genre, canadian rapper Soso from Saskatoon / Clothes Horse Rec. and a newbie (at least as far as i'm concerned), live band from France called Motionless.
The presence of beatmaker Maki on the Soso track had me wonder if he would make justice to the original minimal melancholy of Troy's own productions, and yes, the kid sure does. On his characteristic hesitant delivery Soso delivers another self depreciating hymn, just like we love him to do.
Releasing 7" is a difficult exercise of hit or miss, and in my case the too gentle orchestration of Motionless is more of the second on B side, also due to the fact that the french mc rapping in poor english isn't really doing it for me. Well thats my taste uh -and no, i'm not an extreme rightist if you wonder.
Don't get me wrong, all in all it still deserves your lunch money, with a cool artwork and the hand-written 300 copies counter. Dig!
